HISTORY OF ALSA LC UNHAS
The initial idea for the establishment of ALSA (ASEAN Law Students' Association) was conceived during the Second Conference of the Indonesian Law Students Association (ISMAHI) held in Minahasa in the year of 1987. The Delegates from Indonesia at that time, which consisted of Firouz Gaffar, Fauzi Bustami, Gita Tiffani, Laode M. Syarif (Students from Faculty of Law Universitas Hasanuddin), and M. Horis Rum. On that occasion, ISMAHI observed that interactions among countries in the Southeast Asian region were growing close rapidly.This development demonstrated that cooperation within the Southeast Asian region was not incidental, but a significant and intentional process among its member states. Two years later, ISMAHI organized the ALSA Conference from May 15th to 20th, 1989 in Jakarta. Concurrently with the conference, the ALSA Establishment Agreement was formally signed by the member associations.
In 1995, the Chairman of the National Committee of Indonesia issued Decree No: V/NV-ch/04/1995 concerning the status of ALSA Local Chapter Universitas Hasanuddin. Following the issuance of this decree, the first Local Board of ALSA Local Chapter Universitas Hasanuddin was established, with Ms. Sonia serving as Director for the 1995–1996 period, followed by Mr. Irsal Ohorella for the 1996-1997 period.
ALSA Local Chapter Universitas Hasanuddin experienced a period of inactivity during 1997-1998. However in 1998, several students from the Faculty of Law expressed a strong desire to restore the reputation and existence of ALSA at Universitas Hasanuddin. Consequently, Musyawarah Lokal III (Muslok III) was held at Jl. Gunung Nona No. 2, Makassar. Muslok III resulted in a decision appointing Mr. Zulfikar Anwar as the Director of ALSA Local Chapter Universitas Hasanuddin for the 1998-1999 period.
